TABAR - I - ZIN, Combat Saddle Axe

The Tabar-I-Zin was the axe style used for mounted combat.

In this piece the steel blade with a convex edge, is fully decorated with chiselling, in a composition organised by frames, filled with arabesque, floral and bird motifs contoured by pearl shaped friezes. The hilt made of turned wood is from a later date.

It has the original covering for the blade, in brown leather, stitched with geometrical drawings.

O Tabar-I-Zin era o tipo de machado utilizado em combate a cavalo.

Neste exemplar, a lâmina em aço e de gume convexo, é totalmente decorada a cinzel, numa composição organizada em molduras, preenchidas com motivos de arabescos, flores e ave, contornadas por frisos de perlados.

O cabo, em madeira torneada, é posterior.

Possui capa original para resguardo da lâmina, em couro castanho, pespontado com desenhos geométricos.
