PIA-KAETA, Dagger

Iron, ivory, silver, brass and wood.

Full Length: 28 cm; Blade Length: 18 cm

This piece follows this type of dagger’s characteristic with a straight blade with a single edge, with a brass inlayed groove and a rectangular panel covered in chiselled silver with the characteristic vegetal pattern motif.

The hilt is sculpted in black coral with mounts in silver and gold.

The scabbard, made of wood is worked into grooves and covered in plain silver leaf, hammered over the wood creating grooves up to the mouth.

Este exemplar, segue as características gerais deste tipo de adaga, com a lâmina recta, de um só gume, contendo um sulco embutido a latão e um painel rectangular revestido por sua vez a prata, cinzelada, com o característico padrão de motivos vegetalistas na decoração.

O punho é esculpido em coral negro com aplicações de prata e ouro.

A bainha de madeira, é trabalhada em sulcos e revestida a folha de prata, lisa, e batida sobre esta, o que resulta em caneluras até à zona da boca.
